This session will assist the upper-level elementary school teacher bridge the academic gap that often challenges students entering middle school. Specifically, we will focus on integrating Science, Math and ELA. You will learn where you can FIND DATA derived from actual scientific studies or generated by on-line simulations. You will learn how to assist your students in: 1) making accurate observations, 2) discerning patterns and trends, and 3) clearly communicating their conclusion by learning how to write about their data in a comprehensive way. Analyzing data includes making a logical claim, citing evidence (data) and providing scientific reasoning to justify their claim. We will do actual hands-on exercises modeling this approach.
